How do I apply?

Complete the brief form, or call us on 0800 093 3570. How long will it take?

Loans that will be used wholly or predominantly for personal use are regulated under the Consumer Credit Act which means that they will be subject to a consideration period. You will be given 7 days to look over the loan agreement and any other relevant documents so that you can consider them carefully.

Once this 7 day consideration period is over you will be sent your loan agreement to sign, and you will be given a further 7 days to consider your agreement before we contact you again.

Won't it involve a lot of paperwork?

The paperwork involved is a lot less than for a remortgage - we do need you to prove your identity and address, and to sign a loan agreement and mortgage deed, but other than that the paperwork is usually minimal. Each case is different, so we will talk you through all the documents, and we are always available for any questions you have.

Why would I want a secured homeowner loan?

A secured homeowner loan is secured on your property, so you may be worried about the risk involved. As simple as it sounds, you can't lose your home if you keep up the repayments. We will provide you with all the information you need so you can consider it if you can afford the repayments and often we can reduce your monthly outgoings when compared to your current credit and loan payments.

With a secured homeowner loan, lenders are able to offer larger sums (depending on the value of your property). Secured homeowner loans can also be repaid over a longer term than unsecured loans, which can make the loan more affordable.

What can I use the loan for?

Almost anything. Some lenders do restrict what you can use the money for (for example, timeshares or business purposes), or might insist that some of your existing credit is paid off so you can afford the payments - just tell us what you want the loan for and help to find a loan to suit you.

One of the commonest uses for a secured homeowner loan is to consolidate existing credit, especially expensive credit cards, for people who are struggling with their payments. Paying only the minimum credit card payment will mean you will take many years to pay them off, and pay hundreds, or even thousands, of pounds in interest charges and there is no pre-determined term to a credit card.

Are there any restrictions on how I can spend the money?

No, you can usually use the money for almost any purpose. Perhaps you want to use your loan for debt consolidation to pay off your credit cards, store cards and other loans leaving you with just one manageable monthly payment. Alternatively you may wish to carry out home improvements, purchase a car, or perhaps take a holiday!

Wherever possible the money is yours to spend as you wish.

Certain loans and mortgages early settlement figures will be calculated on the actual amount outstanding with a set number of months interest or payments added, other lenders may base it on a percentage of the balance outstanding or the original loan amount, these will be detailed in the information/agreements you receive.
